Herman H. Hinkle, 80 - April 24, 2012
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Fellowship Community Church, 8601 Holdrege, Lincoln, with Pastor George Cook officiating. There will be no visitation.
Hinkle was born in 1932 to the Rev. William and Mary Hinkle at Almeria. He attended Cozad High School and received both bachelor and master of arts degrees from Kearney State College. He served in the military in 1953-54 in Germany.
Hinkle married Shirley Stinehagen in 1953. He taught and coached in Farnam and Gothenburg (where his basketball team was state champion in 1962) and also at McCook Junior College. He served as a State Farm Insurance agent in McCook and moved to Lincoln in 1975 where he was an insurance agent and financial planner for Ameriprise.
Hinkle was an active member of Fellowship Community Church, chairman of the Nebraska Churches of God and was on the foundation board of the People’s City Mission.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; siblings—Mary Ann Grater (Gene) of Alabama; Glenn Hinkle of Missouri; Nelson Hinkle (Linda) of Kentucky; Bill Hinkle (Lin) of New Mexico; children—Pam Williams, Amy Hinkle of Lincoln; Todd Hinkle (Peggy) of Omaha; grandchildren—Tira Newell (Jason), Tanner Hinkle, Tabby Hinkle of Omaha, Adam Williams, Lia Tiller (John), Dana Williams, Sinjhen Campbell, Lincoln; three great-grandchildren: Evie and Daphne Newell and Atticus Tiller.
Memorials are suggested to the family for his local church, People’s City Mission and Tabatha Hospice.
