Ronald Nichelson, 76 - January 19, 2012
Ronald J. Nichelson, 76, of Gothenburg died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services were conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Monday, Jan. 23, with the Rev. Larry Viter officiating. Interment took place at the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Cozad.
Nichelson was born Aug. 27, 1935, at Tryon, son of William Arthur and Eliza Jane (Druery) Nichelson.
He grew up in the Cozad area and attended school there. He lived in the Gothenburg area since 1961, and worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for 27 years.
Nichelson enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching old television shows, reading, visiting and helping his neighbors, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Arthur and Eliza Jane; a sister, Doris Stitt; brothers—Ivan and John Nichelson; three infant brothers; an infant granddaughter, Emmaline Pearl.
?Survivors include: his son, Randal (Teresa) Nichelson of Beaver Crossing; his daughter, Cheryl (Ted) Bray of Overton; a brother, Harley (Mary) Nichelson of Eustis; sister, Donna Landercasper of Scottsbluff; four granddaughters—Crystal Faulconer, Savannah Nichelson, Ashley Carttar-Caskey and Misti Walker; a grandson, Noah Nichelson; 10 great-grandchildren; special friends and neighbors, Randy and Karla Ricley of Gothenburg; an uncle, Boyd Meredith of North Platte; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Lake Helen upkeep, the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Gothenburg Senior Center.
