Donna Kenning, 70 - August 13, 2011
Donna Rae (Lutjemeyer) Kenning, 70, of Gothenburg, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in someway throughout her life.
A register book will be available from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at American Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Kenning was born Jan. 16, 1941, at the Gothenburg Hospital to Harvey and Irene (Jobman) Lutjemeyer. She grew up on the family farm in Gothenburg.
She was united in marriage to Kenny Kenning in Brighton, CO on Dec. 2, 1970. Their three children are: Theresa, Monte and Mitch. They lived in Boulder, CO; for a short time until moving back to Gothenburg to live on the family farm.
She worked at the Ben Franklin store for 11 years. She loved china painting, floral arranging, crafts and the Nebraska Huskers. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends; especially her many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Kenning was a member of the Zion Lutheran ELCA Women’s group and played on a women’s golf team. She loved her morning coffee group.
Her survivors include: her husband Kenny of Gothenburg; daughter Theresa (Tim) Holley of Gothenburg; sons Monte Kenning of Gothenburg and Mitch (Stephanie) Kenning of Cheyenne, WY; nine grandchildren—Tiffany (Kenneth) Ronning, Jessy Ellison, Landon (Molly) Ellison, Elissa (Dan) Newbrey, Reed Howard all of Gothenburg; Kasey Kenning stationed in Korea; Brandon Kenning of Colorado; Thomas Kenning of Wyoming and Keeley Kenning of Wyoming; great-grandchildren—Kaitlyn, Kole, Adi, Kaitiy Lyn, Dallas, Stetson, Bella, Brennan, Brayden and Easton.
Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church, 77191 HWY 47, Gothenburg, NE 69138, American Lutheran Church, 1512 Avenue G, Gothenburg, NE 69138 or the American Kidney Foundation.
