Keith Fecht, 81 - August 05, 2009
Keith Wayne Fecht, 81, of Gothenburg, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
Services were held on Monday, Aug. 3, at the Brady United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janie Freeman officiating. Burial took place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
Fecht was born March 24, 1928, to Johann and Ethel (Shaffer) Fecht at Gothenburg. He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1946.
Following graduation, he entered the United States Air Force on Oct. 20, 1948, and served until Aug. 30, 1952. He served eight months in Korea during the Korean War as an automotive mechanic.
On March 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty Trosper at the Banner United Methodist Church. To this union, three children where born.
?Fecht and his wife resided and farmed in the Gothenburg area for over 50 years.
?Following retirement from farming, he enjoyed gardening and raising chickens as well as hunting and trapping, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his father, Johann Janssen Fecht; his mother, Ethel Vivian Fecht; a grandson, David Donner; brother, Don Fecht; sister-in-law, Marilyn Fecht; brothers-in-law—Harlan Ackerman and Mearl Wallace; nephew, Dwight Ackerman.
?Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Betty; sons—Wayne (Sandy) Fecht of Salem, OR, and Micheal (Mary) Fecht of Wray, CO; a daughter, Katherine (Jerry) Donner of North Platte; brother, John Burrell Fecht of Yakama, WA; sisters—Corinne (Carol) Sappingfield of Gothenburg, Bonnita (Denny) Thompson of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Lorene (Dan) Billington of Folkston, GA; sister-in-law, Bernadine Fecht of Gothenburg, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Brady United Methodist Church.
