Margaret Power, 91 - February 28, 2007
Margaret Adelina Power, 91, long time resident of North Platte, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Great Plains Medical Center of North Platte.
Christian wake services were held on Friday, Feb. 23, at Adams & Swanson Chapel. Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Golka as celebrant.
Power was born on June 6, 1915, at Farnam, to Martin and Antje (Annie Folkers) Titchen.
She was united in marriage on March 9, 1933, to Edward John (Ted) Power, at Lexington.
Power had recently auctioned her home of 60 years along with its treasures that she enjoyed including her father’s 1850’s steamer trunk, her spurs and saddlebags used riding her horse to school, china from her great-grandparents, a Union Pacific pocket watch commemorating the Golden Spike at Salt Lake and the table used for harvest meals at her parent’s homestead in Farnam, according to family members.
She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2839, and a member of numerous organizations including the Guppies swim group.
?Power was an avid card player and enjoyed fishing, gardening and poetry while maintaining a witty sense of humor, said family members.
?She was preceded her in death by: her parents; her husband, Edward; sons—Kenneth and Ronald; a daughter, Patricia (Ronald) Swanson; grandchildren—Ronda and Timothy Swanson and Anthony Kelly.
Survivors include: her daughters—Lois (Gerald) Kelly of San Luis Obispo CA, Geraldine (Charles) Beer and Sandra Power of Denver, CO; a son, Michael of North Platte; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a dear friend, LaVeta Fletcher.
