Larry Parker, 65 - October 03, 2007
Larry Lee Parker, 65, of Gothenburg, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at Gothenburg.
Services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matthew Groenke officiating. Burial will take place with military honors at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Parker was born on Sept. 14, 1942, at Omaha to Eldon P. and Bertha M. (Christensen) Parker. He grew up in the Anselmo, Thedford, Eddyville and Bertrand communities.
On March 17, 1960, he joined the United States Army and served his country until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1966.
Parker was united in marriage to Carolyn Woehrle on March 16, 1974, at Cozad. He worked driving truck and was a diesel mechanic at GTEC for the past 23 years.
?He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, watching westerns and sports on television and was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, according to family members.
?Parker is preceded in death by: his father, Eldon; and a sister, Karen Hild.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Parker of Gothenburg; his mother, Bertha Parker of Cozad; daughters—Kim Dewey and her children, Tyrell and Morgan, of Gothenburg, Tracy (Mark) Lichtenwalter of Cozad, Barbara (Larry) Albertson and their children, Alex, LaTasha, Larry, Aareyan, Xavier, Nathaniel and Ryan, of Cozad; two brothers—Richard Parker of Buffalo, SD, and Jim (Karen) Parker of Lexington; sister, Mickey (Lester) Nutt of Curtis; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial has been established and is suggested to the donor’s choice.
