Ruth Rylander, 93 - September 24, 2008


Ruth M. Rylander, 93, of Gothenburg, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at North Platte.
Graveside services and burial were held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Gothenburg Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Rehmert officiating.
Rylander was born Jan. 27, 1915, at Almena, KS, to Rudolph and Ruth Alice (Fishburn) Portiner. She and her family moved to Gothenburg when she was 6 years of age.
She was united in marriage to John Arlt at North Platte. To this union, a daughter was born. He died April 26, 1944.
She then married Frank Rylander on Aug. 15, 1946, at Lexington. He died Dec. 20, 1962.
Rylander had spent most of her life as a homemaker. She also taught Sunday school for at the Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed her church and teaching as well as spending time with her pets and her family, and reading, sewing, making quilts, drawing and writing, according to family members.
Rylander was preceded in death by: her parents, Rudolph and Ruth Alice; her first husband, John Arlt in 1944; her second husband, Frank Rylander in 1962; five brothers—Harry, Harvey, Fred, Everett and Walter; a sister, Viola Standford; great-grandchildren—Anthony and Mindy Howell.
?Survivors include: her daughter, L. Ruthie Rylander of Gothenburg; a sister, Maxine Lawson of Lincoln; two grandchildren—Tammy Kottwitz of Hastings and Robin Howell of Gothenburg; five great-grandchildren—Mandy Miller of Minden, Shannon and Magen James of Lincoln, Ashley and Brandon Howell of Gothenburg; four great-great-grandchildren—Abby, Alexander and Breanna Miller of Minden, and Camran Howell of Gothenburg.
Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St., Gothenburg, NE 69138.
