William Crouch, 77 - October 08, 2008
William J. Crouch, 77, of Albany, MO, formerly of Gothenburg, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, surrounded by family members.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Roberson-Polley Chapel in Albany. Burial will take place at the Grandview Cemetery, also at Albany.
Visitation will be held Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m. with family to receive friends from 6-7 p.m. at the chapel.
Crouch was born the son of William and Katheryn Crouch on June 29, 1931, at Shelton. He moved to Gothenburg with his family in 1937 and graduated from Gothenburg Public Schools in 1950.
He married Darlene Bowdish at Broken Bow in 1951. To this union, three sons and a daughter were born.
Crouch served as a non-commissioned officer in the Nebraska Army National Guard. He also worked with his father in his carpenter shop until 1957 when he began working for the City of Gothenburg.
In 1996, he retired as the public works director for the City of Gothenburg after 40 years of service. He and his wife then moved to Albany in 1996 and built a retirement home on a farm south of Albany. He spent his last years enjoying country life with his family, according to family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Kathryn Crouch; sisters—Irene Mitchell, Gladys Bonner and Bernice Block.
?Survivors include: his wife, Darlene; three sons—James (Maria) and Robert (Michelle), all of Albany, and Russell (Diane) of York; a daughter, Karla (Terry) Osborn of Lincoln; a brother, George Crouch of Westport, WA; nine grandchildren—Kimberly (Bryce) Jacob of Leage City, TX, twins, Christine and Allison Osborn of Lincoln, Stephanie and Megan Crouch of York, Kathryn and Thomas Crouch of Albany, Michael (April) of Schertz, TX, and Brian (Holly) of Cincinnati, OH; four great-grandchildren—Desiree, Macayla and Jacob Crouch of Schertz, and Samual Crouch of Cincinnati.
