Irene Viter, 81 - November 04, 2017

Irene Ida Viter, 81, of Gothenburg, died Nov. 4, 2017, surrounded by her family at her home in Gothenburg.
Funeral services took place at the American Lutheran Church on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Irene was born July 11, 1936, in Farnam, daughter of Ed and Margaret (Ostendorf) Schnackenberg. She grew up at Farnam and graduated from Farnam High. She married Junior “Oop” Viter on Nov. 5, 1954, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gothenburg. Irene and Oop had three children—Terry, Allen “Bo”, and Vickie. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She sold Avon for many years.
Survivors include two sons—Terry (Connie) Viter of Lincoln, and Allen “Bo” (Sherry) Viter of Gothenburg; daughter, Vickie (Doye) Miller of Tryon; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Laurel) Etlicher of Wisconsin; along with many extended family and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Junior “Oop” Viter; her parents, Ed and Margaret Schnackenberg; two brothers—Bill (Della) Schnackenberg, and Bob (Mary) Schnackenberg.
