Sarah Jane Parker, 86 - July 05, 2014Sarah Jane “Sally” Beardsley Parker, 86, of Greeley, CO, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Greeley Hospital.
Services will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at Fort McPherson Cemetery near Maxwell with the Rev. Larry Viter of Gothenburg officiating.
Parker was born May 4, 1928, at Merna to William “Bill” and Thelma (Radcliffe) Beardsley. She graduated from Gothenburg High School with the Class of 1945.
After graduation, she went to Kearney College getting her teacher certificate, and then taught at a country school north of Gothenburg for a year.
She married Leslie Owings at Gothenburg. To this union, three children were born.
On Feb. 4, 1971, she married Millard Parker. She resided at Gothenburg until 2001 when she moved to Greeley to be with her daughters and families.
After teaching, she then went to work at WJ O’Connor for many years in Gothenburg, Monroe Tenneco in Cozad, and after retiring from there, went to work for Daylight Donuts of Gothenburg, where she never knew a stranger, said family members.
Parker was a member of the Sarah Rebekah Lodge of Gothenburg.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Bill and Thelma; her two husbands—Leslie Owings and Millard Parker; her son, William “Bill” Owings; brothers and sisters-in-law—Bernard and Esther Beardsley, William Maurice, Lavonna Beardsley and Lee “Bear” Beardsley; her sister and brother-in-law, Winona and Louis Sedlacek.
?Survivors include: her two daughters—Diane Gayman and Beverly (Greg) Speaker, both of Greeley; daughter-in-law, Sherry (Fred) Owings-Mason of Cedar Bluffs; six grandchildren—Stephanie (Nathan) Campbell, Scott (Sherrie) Gayman, both of Greeley, Ashley (Andy) Frye of Ashland, Misty (Eric) Filows of Ft. Calhoun, Kristopher (Courtney) Deckman and Nicholas Deckman, both of Greeley; eight great-grandchildren—Corbin and Caden Campbell and Morgan Gayman, all of Greeley, Abby, Allison and Ava Frye, all of Ashland, Lelah and William Filows of Ft. Calhoun; a brother, Fred (Donna) Beardsley of North Platte; sister-in-law, Kay Beardsley of Sterling, CO; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Greeley Hospice. Memorials may be sent to Diane Gayman at 1817 25th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
