Lemoine Duis, 61 - April 08, 2013Lamoine D. Duis, 61, of Lexington, originally of Gothenburg, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home in Lexington, following cancer.
Services took place on Tuesday, April 16, at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with the Rev. Caroline Vickery officiating. Interment was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Gothenburg.
Duis was born June 17, 1951, at Gothenburg to George and Leona (Sommer) Duis. He attended school at Gothenburg.
On April 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Linda Defruiter at Gothenburg. To this union, two sons were born. The couple later divorced.
He was employed with Sperry New Holland after moving to Lexington in the mid 1970s. He then attended auctioneer school at Billings, MT, in 1977, and later worked with the Kugler family, then 25 years at Designer Craft Woodworking with Steve Atwood. His health forced him to retire three years earlier.
Duis was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.
He loved riding his Harley Davidson as well as woodworking, fishing, hunting and going to the sale barn, according to family members. His greatest joys in life were times spent with his sons and grandchildren.
Duis was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Leona; three brothers—Mearle, Kermit and Clifford.
Survivors include: his sons—Andrew (Wendy) Duis of Grand Island, and Shane Duis of Gothenburg; five grandchildren—Carter, Bryce and Andrea Duis of Grand Island, Judd Duis of Cozad, and Justin Duis of Fort Collins, CO.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
