Gutherless takes first in poetry at Gothenburg

Brady High School senior Danielle Gutherless took first place in the poetry division of the Gothenburg Speech Invite on Feb. 6.

Gutherless was the only Brady participant to medal in the varsity division while two entries placed in the novice section.

Sierra Quadhamer earned third place in the novice poetry event while the novice oral interpretation of drama took sixth. OID participants were Kaleb Arterburn, Lincoln Blede, Preston Franzen, Zach Mann and Ryan Porter.

There were 21 schools at the meet with as many as 48 entries in some events.

VARSITY

Danielle Gutherless—first place in poetry; three superior ratings in serious prose earning a blue ribbon.

Micah Most—one superior and two excellent ratings in entertaining speaking; one superior and two excellent ratings in informative speaking.

Ethan Callahan—three superior ratings in serious prose earning a blue ribbon; one superior and two excellent ratings in extemporaneous speaking.

Jessica Schrad—one superior and two excellent ratings in poetry.

Tyler Egenberger, Kyle Pohlman, Dalton Reidel, Jeff Simants and Brad Ward—one superior and two excellent ratings in oral interpretation of drama.

Jessica Schrad and Ethan Callahan—two superior and one excellent ratings in duet acting

NOVICE

Sierra Quadhamer—third place in poetry; three superior ratings in humorous prose earning a blue ribbon.

Amanda Lunkwitz—two superior and one excellent ratings in humorous prose.

Kaleb Arterburn, Lincoln Blede, Preston Franzen, Zach Mann and Ryan Porter—sixth place in oral interpretation of drama.
