Hay tip over

LOAD SHIFT: Law enforcement was called to the intersection of Lake Avenue and Seventh St. Monday morning about 9:35 a.m. when a trailer loaded with 450 small hay bales tipped over on Lake Avenue. No one was injured and there was minimal damage to the trailer, according to Nebraska State Patrol trooper John Hadley who investigated the accident. Hadley declined to give the name of the driver of the pickup who pulled the trailer, noting that he was a 72-year-old farmer from Kearney who was hauling the bales home from Mann Hay Company. Because of defects on the trailer and the fact that the driver didn’t have a commercial driver’s license, Hadley said the hay and trailer were left at the site to be picked up. The tip over, caused when Hadley said the load of hay shifted, meant that law enforcement directed traffic around the hay and trailer for about two hours.
