Crossing Fellowship denied tax exemption
The Crossing Fellowship of Gothenburg was denied a request for an exemption on personal property by the Dawson County Board of Equalization.
County clerk Karla Zlatkovsky said the church was turned down because construction of the church on land south of Hilltop Estates has not progressed.
Zlatkovsky said church officials could bring back the issue to commissioners in 30 days to explain their intent.
Dawson County Commissioners make up the equalization board and met on May 15.

3 Brothers Vineyard and Winery will be able to sell wine at the Johnson Lake Wine & Art Festival on June 14 after commissioners granted the Farnam winery a special license to serve alcohol.
The commissioners also decided to submit an emergency management program grant which helps pay for much of the budget of the county emergency management office, Zlatkovsky said.
On another matter, commissioners discussed an emergency clause which would allow them to repave the road north from Highway 30 past the Cozad Country Club since Paulsen Inc. has its equipment in the area.
However the issue was tabled until more information is available, Zlatkovsky said.
