Many helped successful meeting

It is nice to know that Gothenburg has the facility and the people to be able to put on a great convention. Comfort Suites and the Barn and Grill took care of the Federated Garden Clubs of Nebraska, Inc. annual meeting with great skill—and the gardeners raved about the food at each meal. Everything we asked for, their staff bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. RTI, Inc. also made Chris Britten available along with mics loaned to us, and he came out to help us set up at night and on the weekend and seemed happy to do it. Five Star’s installers saved us some carpet pad to set our flower arrangements on so we wouldn’t damage Comfort Suite’s grand piano, and the Rotary After Dark loaned us a flag and lectern for our meetings. Jeff Kennedy and Cindy Cooper from Kennedy Landscaping both gave our gardeners great information and ideas to take home with them, as did M.J. Hart.

The Methodist church allowed us use of their fellowship hall and kitchen for catering by the Barn & Grill, and Connie, Dick and Sheila were kind enough to stay for the banquet Saturday night. (We didn’t think to introduce Terry Jessen and our members all thought we had a great busboy! Sorry, Terry.)

Gothenburg has so many people who will say “Yes” with a smile no matter what we ask of them. Having come from Denver nine years ago, I am still astonished at the positive “can do” attitudes of Gothenburg’s businesses and citizens. Happy we live Nebraska.
