Brady students qualify for state Science Olympiad competition
Eight members of Brady’s first Science Olympiad team will compete in the state competition later this month after earning medals at a contest in Ogallala last week.
Educational Service Unit 16 hosted 140 students from 10 area schools in its first regional Science Olympiad contest on March 27.
Four teams of two students each from Brady placed in the top two in their competition category and will advance to the Lincoln contest April 20.
Fifth-graders Tad Grasz and Matthew Walker were first in the helicopter division; seventh-graders Lexi Simants and Emery Swan were first in Crime Busters; sixth-graders Madysen Stiens and Madison Barner won Keep the Heat; and sixth-graders Addie Hild and Emily Mann finished second in Metric Mastery.
The Brady Science Olympiad participants are coached by fifth-grade teacher Angela Johnson, sixth-grade teacher Jeralyn Callahan and junior-senior high school science instructor Tony Munter.
