Business sells John Deere products

LandMark Implement Co., the John Deere dealership which bought Husker Ag a year ago, made a commitment when it joined the business community.

Now the company has made another one by renovating its building in Gothenburg, according to Troy Lorenzen, corporate sales manager.

“By modernizing the business, we’re showing we’re here to stay and we want to be part of the community,” Lorenzen said.

Modernizing means bringing the building into the 21st century, according to local location manager Gary Geiser.

Remodeling of the entire building began the first of January and is expected to be completed by May 1.

Lorenzen said the building is now 100% more usable with a remodeled showroom and parts department, an extra office and enlargement of others, the addition of storage above offices off the showroom and the relocation of pillars in the service area. Three larger overhead doors were also installed.

“It’s more efficient use of the space we have,” he said.

Once interior work is finished, the exterior building will be painted.

Paulsen Inc. of Cozad is the contractor. Local subcontractors were hired.

“We tried to support the local economy by using local subcontractors,” he said.

A grand opening to celebrate the renovation is planned sometime this summer.

When LandMark Implement bought Husker Ag in April of 2009, Lorenzen said they looked at how the business tied into the company’s organization.

“We were impressed with Gothenburg and Lexington,” he said about two of the cities where Husker Ag dealerships were bought. “We felt it was an adequate facility but wanted to modernize it.”

Lorenzen added that the progressive company—LandMark Implement—fits in well with Gothenburg which he described as a progressive community.

LandMark Implement employs 17 full-time workers locally and has other dealerships in Lexington, Holdrege (where headquarters are located), Minden and in Smith Center and Phillipsburg, KS.

There are 145 employees in the LandMark organization which sells agriculture, lawn and garden equipment as well as tools, clothing, tools, parts and household products like carpet and window cleaners.
