State Bound . . . Again
SIDNEY—Literally the old saying of, “anything can happen in the playoffs,” was all so evident Monday evening as the 24-2 Gothenburg Swedes clashed with the 8-15 Chadron Cardinals. The winner heads to the state tournament and the loser stays home. Both teams had their own army of fans cheering them on from the onset of the game. The place was electrified as the teams started playing. It was a defensive battle in the first quarter with both teams unable to put the ball through the hoop. Gothenburg jumped out to a slight lead just to have it diminish to just one point. The score was six to five, Gothenburg was able to hold onto the lead.
“I knew a lot of people were overlooking Chadron just because of their record and I was definitely not one of them. They’ve (Chadron) played a tremendously tough schedule. I was expecting a full out battle and we got it,” said coach Koehler of Monday evenings’ opposition.
