Council holds special meeting: Dog owners reminded of city ordinances
The Gothenburg City Council met for a special meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27, with the only item on the agenda being a public hearing on an appeal of an animal citation. The public hearing was set for, and held, during the regular council meeting Oct. 18, but because the dog owner was not present at that meeting the hearing was rescheduled. This is not the first time the council has heard an appeal from a dog owner within the city. Councilman Verlin Janssen said in his one and a half years on the council this is the fourth or fifth such hearing.
“This is not fun for any of us in the room,” said Janssen.
