Barbara Yoder, 82 - April 22, 2009
Barbara Jane Yoder, 82, of Willow Island died Thursday, April 16, 2009.
Memorial services were held on Monday, April 20, at the First Baptist Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Bill Ivey officiating. Inurnment took place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Yoder, and her twin sister Bonnie, were born on June 30, 1926, to Roy and Ruth (Lewis) Crowner at Cozad. She grew up at Roten Valley near Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School.
On June 27, 1945, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Yoder at Norton, KS. The couple has resided at Willow Island since 1948, where she was the postmaster for 33 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Flatlanders Car Club.
Yoder enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery and quilting, collecting Beanie Babies, flowers and gardening, her kitties and Bible study groups, according to family members. She had mastered the computer later in life and enjoyed using email to keep in contact with her family and friends.
She and her twin sister also enjoyed traveling to Nebraska twins conventions.
Yoder was preceded in death by: her parents, Roy and Ruth; her husband, Ken Yoder.
?Survivors include: her daughters—Pat (Henry) Potter of Elsie, Carolyn (Curt) Ronnekamp of Towanda, IL, and Cindy (Don) Cornette of Grand Island; her twin sister, Bonnie (Boyd) Harris of Ogallala; grandsons—Chad Ronnekamp, Frank Potter, Trevor Cornette and Roy (Stephanie) Potter; granddaughters—Heather (Brian) Bradley and Carmen McGuire; great-grandsons—Cameron Bradley, Colby McGuire and Trey Cornette; great-granddaughters—Halie Ronnekamp, Reilly McGuire, Makenzie Bradley, Sarah Potter and Emmily Potter; numerous nieces and nephews
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, 1002 Ave. C, Gothenburg, NE, 69138, and the Nebraska Humane Society.
