Karma L. Nelsen, 55, of Cozad, died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, at the First United Methodist Church of Cozad with the Rev. Lyle Schoen officiating.
Visitation for memorial book signatures will be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at the Berryman Funeral Home at Cozad.
Nelsen was born March 29, 1954, at Cozad, to Adolph and Ruth (Kuebler) Fasse.
She graduated from Cozad High School in 1972 and attended Kearney State College.
In December of 1972, she married Roger Neill. To this union, a son was born.
Nelsen, along with Norma Robison, began the CBS Real Estate Agency in Cozad in 1978.
On July 23, 1993, she was united in marriage to Bruce Nelsen at Kearney. The couple made their home in the Cozad area their entire married life and, for the last 12 years, resided at Midway Lake south of Cozad.
In June of 2008, she sold her interests in the CBS Real Estate and formally retired.
Nelsen was a long-time member of the Dawson County Board of Realtors.
She enjoyed watching football, gambling and living on the lake, according to family members. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family and spending time on the family farm south of Cozad where she grew up.
Nelsen also enjoyed preparing large Sunday meals at noon for her family, just as her mother had done, said family members. She also loved to decorate her home for a particular season.
?She was very proud of her son, Josh, who is pursuing a career in real estate, following in the footsteps of his mother and aunt, according to family members.
Nelsen was preceded in death by: her parents, Adolph and Ruth; two aunts and an uncle.
Survivors include: her husband, Bruce Nelsen of Cozad; her son, Josh Neill of Lincoln; step-daughter, Lesley (Nick) Fessler of Lincoln; two step-sons—Freddy (Mandy) Nelsen of Cozad and Tom (Natalie) Nelsen of Holdrege; five sisters—Diann (Jim) Adle of Cozad, Judy Moore of Portland, OR, Ginny (Jim) Hamilton of Lincoln, Janel (Jay) Halligan, also of Cozad, and Karen Fasse of Casper, WY; brother-in-law, Richard (Tina) Nelsen of Cozad; sister-in-law, Liz (Ron) Johnson of Rapid City, SD; four step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials are suggested to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association or to the donor’s choice in her memory.
