Gary Jacob, 61 - September 15, 2012Gary John “Jake” Jacob, 61, of Windsor, CO, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at Hospice Care in Greeley, CO.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at the Faith United Church of Christ in Windsor, CO, on Thursday, Oct. 11, starting at 2 p.m., and at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. Inurnment will take place at the Cozad Cemetery.
Jacob was born June 28, 1951, to Milford and Dorothy Jacob, the first of five children. Growing up in Dawson County, he graduated from Cozad High School and furthered his education at Kearney State College.
In 1971, he married Connie Sheffield. To this union, two daughters were born. The couple resided in Dawson County where they farmed north east of Gothenburg. The family lived and worked on the farm and were active with the Dawson County 4-H program and community.
Jacob continued his career in agriculture working in the lumber industry, and in 1998, he and his wife moved to Windsor. Soon after, he began working for Cenex with Agfinity Coop in Lucerne, CO.
Between work and family, he enjoyed drives through the mountains, Nebraska football and following the progress of the crops throughout the growing season each year, said family members. He retired in 2010 due to health complications.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Milford and Dorothy Jacob; a sister, Sonia Delahunty; father-in-law, Verlo Sheffield; nephew, Jesse Sheffield.
Survivors include: his wife, Connie of Windsor; his daughters—Stacie Jacob of Paso Robles, CA, and Amy Jacob of Casper, WY; siblings—Raymond (Carol) Jacob and Randy (Kathy) Jacob, all of Cozad, and Linda (Dirk) Greene of Imperial; brothers-in-law—Tom Delahunty and Kenny (Donna) Sheffield, all of Gothenburg; mother-in-law, Alice Sheffield of Gothenburg; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins aunts and uncles.
A memorial has been established for the Heart Center of the Rockies and the Dawson County 4-H Foundation.
