Anita (Iliene) Stickleman, 78 - March 15, 2012
Anita “Iliene” Imler Stickleman, 78, of Gothenburg died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Gothenburg.
A book signing will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on Monday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorial services will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Rehmert officiating.
Stickleman was born at Curtis on Oct. 28, 1933. Her parents were Lorand and Lucille Welch who lived on a farm north of Moorefield. She was the first of six children--four brothers and one sister. She attended school in Moorefield and later attended Curtis High School.
She was a mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her focus was always on family, according to family members.
Her career was varied and she worked as a nurse, worked at Monroe Auto and owned her own restaurant in Gothenburg. She worked hard and was frugal with what she had, said family members.
On Jan. 28, 1950, she was united in marriage to Edwin Imler. The couple resided in Brady most of their married life. They had five children—Ira Imler, Alice (Mitch) Goiter, Walter (Lorene) Imler, Rhonda Imler and Mary (Larry) Bodfield. She had 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
As she grew older she spent many hours with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing games with them and showing them how things in life worked, and they enjoyed the time she spent with them, stated family members.
Stickleman was preceded in death by: her parents, Lorand and Lucille; her husband, Edwin lmler; her youngest daughter, Mary Bodfield; two infant children.
Memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Free Church, 1721 Lake Ave., Gothenburg, NE 69138.
