Alyce Anderson, 91 - February 14, 2012

Funeral services for Alyce M. Anderson will be conducted from the Christian Homes Chapel in Holdrege, Nebraska, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Murray Jones, Chaplain DeWane Dow and Mr. Wayne Carlson officiating. Interment will be at the Moses Hill Cemetery in rural Phelps County.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family greeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Alyce Mae Anderson, 91, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege.
Anderson was born on Nov. 15, 1920, in Phelps County near Loomis, the seventh of eight children born to Edward Hilbert and Hanna (Hanson) Edlund. She was baptized at Moses Hill Evangelical Covenant Church. She attended school in Phelps County and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1938.
She was employed as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Holdrege and also in Omaha.
On Aug. 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ray Gerald Anderson and to this union one daughter was born, Janet Kay.
The family lived in Gothenburg, moved to Broken Bow, and then moved to a farm northeast of Holdrege in 1952. They engaged in farming for 30 years until their retirement in 1982 and moved into Holdrege. Ray passed away on May 17, 2001.
Anderson accepted the Lord in her youth and was a past member of the Moses Hill Evangelical Covenant Church, where she was active teaching Sunday School and served in music ministry. Since moving to Holdrege, she had attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church.
Besides her parents and her husband, Ray, she was preceded in death by: five sisters: Helen (Boyd) Elander, Eula (Lynn) Burnett, Ruby Edlund, Louise Trauerman, Mary Ann Edlund; two brothers: Harley Edlund and his wife, Betty, and Norman Edlund; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Anderson; and one brother-in-law, Wilbert Anderson.
She is survived by: her daughter, Janet Anderson of Lincoln; two sisters-in-law: Norrene Anderson of Brady and Jewel (Forrest) Johnson of Gothenburg; two brothers-in-law—Delmar (wife) Anderson of Gothenburg, Wendel Anderson of Omaha; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the Moses Hill Cemetery Association.
The Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege is in charge of arrangements.
