Julia Sanderson, 87 - September 01, 2011
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, rom 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. MT Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Plainview Cemetery in Lodgepole.
Sanderson was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Chappell, daughter of Curtis Harry and Alice (Quinn) Brown. She was the oldest of eight children.
She grew up in Lodgepole and attended schools there, graduating from Lodgepole High School. She married Merle Sanderson on April 22, 1944, at Fresno, CA. To this union, two children were born: Curtis and Judy.
The family moved all over the United States as Merle was in the military. Julia was very proud to be a military wife, family members said. She worked as a telephone operator, a bookkeeper and she also owned a cafe.
She was a member of the Lions Club International and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed leather working, gardening, crocheting and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Virginia Hubbard.
Survivors include: son Curtis Sanderson of Enid, OK; daughter Judy Scalf of Hemet, CA; three sisters—Idonna Richens, Jane Zalesky, Dorothy McMillen; three brothers—Harry Brown, Dick Brown, Jim Brown; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four great, great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association, 105 Apache DR, Lexington, NE 68850.
