Gladyce E. Jungren, 94 - June 23, 2011

Gladyce E. Jungren, 94, of Cozad, formerly of Gothenburg, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Golden Living Care Center in Cozad.
Services took place at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 27, with the Rev. Mike Dennis officiating. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Jungren was born Aug. 20, 1916, at Willow Island to John H. and Freda C. (Hagberg) Jungren. She was raised on the family farm at Willow Island and attended Lucerne Valley Rural School, later graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1939.
In 1942, she moved to California where she worked at the Lockheed Aircraft Factory at Burbank. She later returned to the family farm at Willow Island in 1947, where she and two of her sisters, Helen and Julia, remained and worked the farm.
She also spent a great deal of time caring for her neighbors and close family members. She would become very close to the children under her care, forming special bonds that lasted into their adult lives, according to family members.
In addition to farm-work, she also enjoyed her yard work and flowers, said family members, as she possessed a true pioneer’s spirit.
Jungren was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Freda; three sisters—Viola (Gerhardt) Fecht, Helen and Julia; a brother, John Herald (Elsie) Jungren; niece, JoAnne Fecht; great-niece, Brenda; niece-in-law, Francis Fecht; a nephew-in-law, Herald Benson.
Survivors include: her three nieces—Betty Benson of Grand Junction, CO, Vicki (Lawrence) Lutjemeyer of Otoe, and Jody (Gary) Kotschwar of Moorefield; four nephews—William Fecht of Kearney, Ralph Stanley (Rosemary) Fecht of Ogallala, John (Karla) Fecht of Cozad, and Ronald Fecht of Gothenburg; members of the Kloepping family including Jann (Dwight) Devine; numerous other relatives.
A memorial has been established.
