Leonard Malm, 48 - June 22, 2011
Leonard Duane Malm, 48, of Axtell died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Kearney.
Services took place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg on June 25 with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Interment was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Malm was born Oct. 9, 1962, at North Platte, son of Duane and Hildur (Pearson) Malm, the first of three children.
As a young child, he was placed at a family home in the Beatrice State Development Center. He resided at the center until moving to the Mosaic at Bethphage Village, where he resided since 1984.
He enjoyed taking responsibilities for his chores at the home as well as helping with laundry, according to family members. He also enjoyed going to church services on Sunday, and as a child enjoyed singing the songs.
Malm loved life and was a very happy person, said members of his family. He also enjoyed being on the go, and especially liked being outside and being with other people.
Survivors include: his father and mother, Duane and Hildur of Maxwell; two sisters—Viola (Ed) McCown and Linda (James) Blaszkowski; four nephews—David McCown, Malachi Blaszkowski, Caleb Blaszkowski and Titus Blaszkowski; two nieces—Emma McCown and Elizabeth McCown; an aunt, Marjorie (Willard) Kuhlman; uncle, Willard (Carolyn) Pearson; several cousins and friends from his group home.
Memorials are suggested to the Mosaic Bethphage Village, Box 67, Axtell, NE 68924.
