Amy Sicklebower, 96 - August 19, 2009
A memorial service was planned for Amy Ogden Sicklebower, 96, of Sheboygan, WI, formerly of Gothenburg, who died July 18, 2009, at her home at the Sheboygan Senior Community in Sheboygan.
The service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Randall L. Dilts officiating. Burial took place at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Sicklebower was born on May 24, 1913, at Springfield, CO, to Silas and Novellia (Van Orsdol) Speckmann. She attended schools and graduated from Lamar High in Colorado in 1931.
On April 23, 1939, she was united in marriage to Owen Sicklebower at Lamar. The couple were married for almost 49 years before her husband preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, D.A.R., and the Gothenburg Public Library Board.
Sicklebower was preceded in death by: her parents, Silas and Novellia; her husband, Owen; a daughter, Marion Ogden Keller; son-in-law, Bruce Giles; six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: her daughter, Sherie Giles of Tuscaloosa, AL; her son-in-law, Dr. John (Jennifer) Keller of Sheboygan; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren—Polly Hammes and her children, Andrew and Alexandrea of Sheboygan, Matthew (Kim) Keller and their children, Cia and Jake of Chicago, IL, Paige (Shayne) Musick and her children, Savannah and Sydney Kobza of Buda, TX, and Rebecca (John) Wood and their children, Ashlyn, Abigail and Addison of Tuscaloosa, AL; two sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials are suggested to the First Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave., Gothenburg, NE 69138, and the Gothenburg Public Library, 1104 Lake Ave., Gothenburg, NE 69138.
