Susan Garrelts, 65 - December 23, 2009
Susan Gae Garrelts, 65, of Westminster, CO, formerly of the Gothenburg and Cozad area, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Westminster.
Services were held Dec. 23 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matt Groenke officiating. Burial was at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Garrelts was born Oct. 27, 1944, to Leo and Marie (Lenger) Stasch at Niobrara. She graduated from Cody Public School and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
On Aug. 3, 1968, she was united in marriage to Glenn Garrelts at Valentine.
She resided in the Cozad and Gothenburg area from 1966 to 1987, and worked as a teacher at the Cozad Junior High School for 21 years teaching English and world history. She was also a sponsor for the pep club.
Garrelts also worked as an office coordinator for 20 years.
In 1987, she moved to Westminster and lived there until her passing.
She enjoyed gardening, decorating and cooking, according to family members.
Garrelts was preceded in death by: her parents, Leo and Marie Stasch.
Survivors include: her husband of 41 years, Glenn; sisters—Diana (Tom) Gibbs, Marilee (Anthony) Roberto and Pamela Stasch; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
