Marvin Lambertus, 87 - January 03, 2007
Marvin L. Lambertus, 87, of Gothenburg died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006.
Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Gothenburg with the Rev. Bill Terry officiating. Burial was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Lambertus was born on a family farm north of Gothenburg to William Jurgen and Margaret Etta (Jobman) Lambertus. He attended country school north of Gothenburg.
In 1941, he married Geraldine Lundquist at Grand Island. To this union, three children were born, Doug, Carolyn “Sue” and Jackie.
He farmed for several years before moving to Grand Island in 1955 where he worked as a carpenter. In 1966, he started work at the New Holland Company as a tool and die maker. In 1977, he bought back the farm north of Gothenburg, retiring in 1982.
?Lambertus enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking as well as traveling around the country visiting family, spending time with his own family and spending time at their cabin, according to family members.
?He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Margaret; his wife, Geraldine; two brothers—Melvin and Lloyd.
?Survivors include: a son, Doug (Judith) Lambertus of Grand Island; two daughters—Jackie (Roger) Headley of Gothenburg and Sue (Mell) Halsey of Dannebrog; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
