Margaret Gollehon, 92 - August 08, 2007
Margaret Nellie Mae (Jenkins) Gollehon, 92, formerly of Gothenburg, died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND.
Services were held on Monday, Aug. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church at Fargo. Entombment took take place at the Riverside Mausoleum at Fargo.
Gollehon was born to Harvey and Fern (Jefferson) Jenkins on Aug. 17, 1914, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1917, she moved to Gothenburg where she graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1932.
She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Gothenburg and Omaha from August of 1933 to July of 1949.
On July 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Wilmot E. “Golly” Gollehon at the First Baptist Church of Omaha. The couple were married for over 50 years and to this union two children were born.
Her husband also worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. The couple were transferred to Lexington, then Aberdeen, SD, and finally to Fargo in October of 1951.
Gollehon was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fargo, where she served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School and held various offices in the Presbyterian Women’s Association.
She enjoyed the arts, according to family members, and was a long-time member of the Fargo Moorhead Area Music Club where she served as treasurer, vice-president and president. She also served on the North Dakota Federation of Music Clubs Board.
Gollehon was preceded in death by: her parents, Harvey and Fern; her husband, Wilmot; a sister, Birchie Darner.
Survivors include: a son, Douglas (Susan) Gollehon of Omaha; a daughter, Anne (Bill) Kuzas of Oxbow, ND; grandchildren—Christopher and Stephen Gollehon of Omaha and Christina and Nickolas Kuzas of Oxbow.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Fargo and the International Music Camp.
