Violet Mladek, 76 - August 12, 2009
Violet V. Mladek, 76, of Cozad died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Cozad Community Hospital.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with the Rev. Irwin Edwards officiating. Burial will take place at the Cozad Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday (today) at the Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad.
Mladek was born Feb. 27, 1933, at Walworth to Homer and Altha (Wright) Dishman. She attended Gothenburg High School.
On June 7, 1949, she married Charlie Mladek at Lexington. The couple resided at Cozad where they lived their entire married life.
She was employed primarily as a caregiver. She worked at the Cozad Hospital health facility in her early years, and later at South Central Developmental Services. During her most recent years, she was a private caregiver. She also spent much of her time cleaning game birds for local hunters.
Mladek was a long-time member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren as well as collecting, especially dolls, and solving word puzzles, according to family members. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Mladek was preceded in death by: her parents, Homer and Altha; two sons—Frank and Allen in 1977; a grandson, Kenn in 1997; three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include: her husband, Charlie Mladek of Cozad; two daughters—Charlotte (Richard) Tabor of Douglas, WY, and Vicky (Terry) Kruse of Cozad; a son, Eddie Mladek of Lexington; two sisters—Lucy (Richard) Sabin of Cozad, and Bertha Poen of Gothenburg; four brothers—Harold Dishman of Cheyenne, WY, Virgil (Lil) Dishman of Council Bluffs, IA, and Al (Linda) Dishman of Gothenburg; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives.
A memorial has been established.
