Malachi Mack Ryan, 80 - October 31, 2007
Malachi “Mack” W. Ryan, 80, of Gothenburg, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Gothenburg.
Services were held on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Donald O’Brien officiating. Burial took place at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery.
Ryan was born on June 17, 1927, at Merna, to John J. and Ellen M. (Mullen) Ryan. He grew up and attended school in Merna.
Following high school, he entered the United States Army.
He was united in marriage to Inez “Bonnie” Adams on Aug. 27, 1955. To this union, a daughter, Veronica was born. The couple made their home in various towns across Nebraska, and settled in Cozad before moving to Gothenburg.
Ryan worked as a farm and ranch hand throughout the state of Nebraska.
He had enjoyed playing horse shoes and gardening, according to family members.
?Ryan was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Ellen; his wife, Bonnie in 2006; his daughter, Veronica Gilbert; four brothers—Joe, Rich, Leo and John; four sisters—Leona, Ellen, Sally and Lucille.
?Survivors include: three granddaughters—Dawn Bartlett of Lincoln, Angie Drahota and her children, Jack and Jesse of Ravenna, Lisa (Gabe) and sons, Isaac and Adam Bartlett of North Platte; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
