Steven Ehlers, 48 - November 14, 2007
Steven M. Ehlers, 48, of Gothenburg, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2007.
Services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein, PMA, officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12-8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m., at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg.
Ehlers was born on June 14, 1959, at Hebron, to Don and Emma (Hayes) Ehlers. He was raised in Deshler and attended Deshler High School.
On Oct. 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Jennie Lynn Reinke at Hebron. To this union, three children were born.
He and his family resided at Minden from 1982 to 1993, then moved to Gothenburg.
Ehlers was involved in construction of center pivot irrigation systems for over 20 years, and was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for four years.
He enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events, doing construction in his free time and helping his friends and neighbors, according to family members.
?Ehlers was preceded in death by: his father, Don Ehlers; his grandparents—Iona Ehlers, Zelma Hayes and Albert Hayes.
?Survivors include: his wife, Jennie Ehlers of Gothenburg; two sons—Dustin Ehlers of Seward and Dane Ehlers of Gothenburg; a daughter, Jessa Ehlers of North Platte; his mother, Jean Ehlers of Deshler; two brothers—Douglas (Julie) Ehlers of Hildreth and Jason (Collette) Ehlers of Lincoln; a sister, Debra Kaenel of Broussard, LA; grandfather Roy Ehlers of Deshler; numerous nieces and nephews.
