Patricia Sratman, 72 - January 09, 2008
Patricia “Tish” Stratman, 72, of Gothenburg died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Winterhaven, CA.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 511 N. Elm St., at Grand Island. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Stratman was born on Dec. 22, 1935, to Dwight and Fanny Thiel, the youngest of 12 children (six boys and six girls). She attended school at Alda, graduating in 1954.
On Dec. 12, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dale Stratman. To this union, two children were born. The couple recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
As a young woman, she worked at various jobs and raising her family as well as excelling as a member of the Grand Island Eagles drill team.
In 1967, she and her husband moved to California where they resided for 16 years. Following moves to Texas, Nevada and a return to California, she retired to Gothenburg in 1996.
?Stratman was an avid reader and enjoyed her family and grandchildren as well as camping, according to family members. She spent each winter in Arizona with her husband.
?She was preceded in death by: her parents, Dwight and Fanny; five sisters and five brothers.
?Survivors include: her husband, Dale; her son, Doug Stratman of Stockton, CA; her daughter, Karen Walker of Gothenburg; two grandchildren—Erica of Ventura, CA, and Taylor of Gothenburg; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Karl; numerous nieces and nephews.
