LaRee Simants, 40 - February 13, 2008
LaRee Lynn Simants, 40, of Gothenburg, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Gothenburg.
A visitation was held Wednesday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church of Gothenburg with the Rev. Bill J. Terry, Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Simants was born on Dec. 31, 1967, at Fort Belvoir, VA, to Clarence and Ivy (Shoop) Avis. She grew up in the Gordon-Oshkosh-Rushville area and attended school at Rushville, graduating in May of 1986.
She graduated from Joseph’s College of Beauty and worked as a manager at the Dollar General store in Gothenburg. She previously worked as a day care provider, a cosmetologist and as a med-aide for a clinic in Gothenburg.
On June 18, 1988, she was united in marriage to Larry R. Simants at Gothenburg. To this union, two children were born.
Simants loved children of all ages and was active in anything her family did like going camping, boating, fishing and hunting, according to family members. She enjoyed being with her family as nothing was more important to her than them.
?She was preceded in death by her grandparents, uncles, father-in-law and cousins.
?Survivors include: her husband, Larry of Gothenburg; daughter, Alisha Lynn of Gothenburg; son, Colby Tyler of Gothenburg; her parents, Clarence and Ivy Avis of Rushville; a brother, Doug Lee (Tora) Avis of Scottsbluff; a sister, Kristy Jo Avis of Chadron; two brothers-in-law—Scott (Becky) Simants of Gothenburg and Steve (Patty) Simants of Lincoln; mother-in-law, Dorothy Simants of North Platte.
