Harry Crawford, Jr., 58 - February 13, 2008
Harry “Butch” James Crawford, Jr., 58, of Magnolia, TX, brother of Charlene (Crawford) Devine of Gothenburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at Conroe, TX, after a nine-year battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Klein Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia. Burial took place at the Klein Memorial Park at Magnolia.
Crawford was born on June 11, 1949, at Kearney to Harry J. and Lorraine E. (Franzen) Crawford. During his younger years, he and his family traveled throughout the United States, living in 38 states.
When he was 7 years old, the family settled in Colorado Springs, CO, where he spent the majority of his school years before moving to Long Beach, CA, to begin his senior year of high school. He graduated from David Starr Jorden High School with the Class of 1967.
In June of 1968, he was united in marriage to Gail Widman. To this union, two children were born.
Crawford moved his family to the Houston, TX, area in 1978, where he was employed with BJ Hughes until cancer forced his retirement in 1999.
He was an avid Nebraska football fan and had enjoyed collecting model cars as well as singing and dancing to country music, according to family members.
Crawford was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lorraine.
Survivors include: his wife, Gail; a daughter, Carrie Ann (Danny) Ahlgrim; a son, Harry “Chance” James (Sandy), III; grandchildren—Joshua, Blaine, Brandon and Shane Ahlgrim, Cole, Madyson and Shelby Crawford, all of Tomball, TX; sisters—JoAnn Norris of Colorado Springs and Charlene (Ron) Devine of Gothenburg; a brother, Dan (Daryl) Crawford of La Guna Nigual, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
