Gladys Jobman, 97 - September 17, 2008
Gladys Esther Ruth Hendrickson Jobman, 97, formerly of Gothenburg, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Fort Collins, CO.
Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m. at the Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg with the Rev. David Thornberry officiating. Burial will take place at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
Jobman was born on a family farm in Wild Horse Valley on Nov. 16, 1910, to Charles and Annie (Pohl) Hendrickson. She was the last surviving child of eight.
On Sept. 15, 1935, she was united in marriage to Harvey Jobman at the parsonage with a dinner following at her mother’s home. The couple were married 63 years.
She and her husband farmed north of Gothenburg until 1971, and after moving to town she was a part-time employee at Kampfe’s Department store.
Jobman extended her gracious hospitality to friends and family and was an active extension club member, a church worker, gardener and quilter, according to family members.
?She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harvey, in 2000; her granddaughter, Debra; numerous other family members.
?Survivors include: her son, Wallace (Melody) of Red Feather Lakes, CO; grandsons—Michael (Linda) and Simon (Heidi); great-grandchildren—Eli, Sophia and Cooper, all of Ft. Collins; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials are suggested to be sent to: ABWE mission hospital in Bangladesh.
