Edna Belle Peterson, 93 - March 04, 2014

Edna Belle (Murray) Peterson, 93, of Cozad passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Golden Living Center in Cozad, surrounded by her family and friends.
Services will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, with the Revs. Larry Viter and Ken Sawyer officiating. Interment will be at the New Hope Cemetery at Gothenburg.
A visitation will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg on Monday, March 10, from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
Peterson was born at a farm home northeast of Farnam to William Arthur and Minnie May (Mosley) Murray on Sept. 20, 1920.
She rode a horse to rural schools north of Farnam and to Farnam High School where she graduated in 1939 as valedictorian of her class.
Peterson then attended summer school at Kearney State College and taught for eight years at rural schools and two years at Eustis Elementary, first and second grades.
On Dec. 31, 1948, she married Lloyd Peterson at Kearney. The couple enjoyed working together for almost 45 years.
Her husband proceeded her in death on Sept. 12, 1993. With the help of Larry Sanger and many others, she was able to continue with the cattle and farming northeast of Brady. She pursued water and grass conservation and received an award from the NRD in 2007.
Peterson served 12 years on the New Hope School Board and was treasurer of Svea Dal Church Ladies Aid for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Lloyd Andrew Peterson; her parents, William and Minnie Murray; four brothers—Leo, Merle, Burr, and one in infancy; a sister, May Smallfoot of Gothenburg.
Survivors include: her nephew, James Murray of Joplin, MO; three nieces—Sharon Stone of Rensselaer, IN, Eileen Dell of Granby, MO, and Ruth Miller of Gothenburg.
Memorials are suggested to the Brady Fire & Rescue, 207 East Commercial, P.O. Box 31, Brady, NE 69123, the Svea Dal Evangelical Covenant, 1676 Svea Dal Rd., Brady, NE 69123, and New Hope Cemetery.
