Carolyn Mueller, 73 - February 07, 2014Carolyn L. Mueller, 73, of Sutherland passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday Feb. 14, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte with the Rev. Duane Dunwoody officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
Mueller was born July 17, 1940, at Lewellen to Marvin and Edna (Grasz) Courter, and grew up at Keystone.
On Feb. 28, 1958, she was united in marriage to Lawrence L. Mueller. The couple moved to their family ranch north of Sutherland and resided there until 2001.
She was an “adopted grandma” volunteer at the Sutherland Public School and enjoyed many things including gardening, feeding birds and collecting chicken and kitten figurines, family members said. She also enjoyed yard sale-ing with her sister, Francis, and following her grandchildren’s rodeo and fair events.
Mueller was renowned for her pumpkin pies, breads and “grandma’s” cooking, according to family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Marvin and Edna Courter; her husband, Lawrence; a granddaughter, Brittany Mueller; brother, Ernest Courter.
?Survivors include: her children—Lawrence “Buck” (Jane) Mueller of Gothenburg, Marvin (Janet) Mueller and Charlie Mueller, all of Sutherland, and Connie (Russell) Barnum of Stapleton; seven grandchildren—Ben (Mandy) Mueller of Adams, Levi Mueller of Gillette, WY, Lydsey Mueller of Gothenburg, Brandi Mueller of Joliet, IL, BoDelle Mueller of Sutherland, Bronc (Shannon) Barnum of Torrington, WY, and Clancey Barnum of Stapleton; two great-grandchildren—Hailey Phroper and Riley O’Brien; siblings—Nancy Waterman of Ogallala, Francis Pace of North Platte and Frank Courter of Lewellen; numerous other family members.
Memorials are suggested to the Sutherland Care Center, Sutherland American Legion Hall and the Sutherland Rural Fire Department.
