Myrna Buckley, 78 - April 08, 2009
Services for Myrna Elaine (Ackerman) Buckley, 78, formerly of Gothenburg, were held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Zion Lutheran Church at Ainsworth with the Rev. Georg Williams officiating. Interment was held at the Ainsworth Cemetery.
Buckley was born Sept. 27, 1930, at Gothenburg to Jerry and Christina (Buesing) Ackerman. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage to Richard Buckley of Cozad on July 12, 1950. To this union, five children were born.
Buckley and her husband began their lives together in Cozad and eventually moved to Fort Benning in Georgia for her husband’s military service. Following their time in Georgia, the couple then returned to ranch in 1973.
She committed her life to her family and was proud of her family memories and welcomed all who entered her home with unconditional kindness, according to family members. She provided a second-home to several friends of her own children and other children in the neighborhood as well.
Buckley was active in many women’s clubs and was an accomplished seamstress, winning the “Make it with Wool” contest. She used her skills to help her children with their extracurricular activities including projects for 4-H, baking for school fundraisers and team sport functions.
She enjoyed spending her time in football stands, volleyball bleachers and wrestling tournaments, always supporting the activities of her children and grandchildren, said family members. She was also an avid reader and loved to share her “words of wisdom.”
Buckley was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard; a daughter, Ranae; her parents, Jerry and Christina; a brother, Harlan; grandson, James Buckley.
Survivors include: her sons—Kim (Sue) Buckley of Ainsworth, and Ryan of Tyler, TX; daughters—Joy (Don) Doucet of Lincoln, and Karma (Donovan) Bower of Bellevue; grandchildren—Erin (Ron) Coles of Lincoln, Brooke (Matt) Hughes of Kearney, Jade Walton of Chicago, IL, Merry Buckley of Alexandria, LA, Abbygayl and Sage Meyer of Bellevue, Trev Buckley and Brett Carlyle of Tyler.
