Dorothea Kampfe, 89 - May 15, 2013Dorothea Johanna Louise Kampfe, 89, of Gothenburg passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg.
Services will take place at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St., in Gothenburg on Monday, May 20, at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Jeff Cottingham and Tom Wilson officiating. Interment will be at the American Lutheran Cemetery at Gothenburg.
A visitation will be conducted at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Sunday, May 19, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Kampfe was born June 27, 1923, to Herman H. and Ella Bunsen Ebmeier at Bertrand, the fourth of six children.
She graduated from Bertrand High School, and taught school for several years in the Bertrand area.
On May 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Reuben O. Kampfe. To this union, two sons were born.
Kampfe was a lifelong artist with her favorite media being china and watercolor. She demonstrated and displayed her painting on the local, state and national levels, and shared her talent with others by teaching classes for many years.
She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church where she served on many committees and was active in the women’s groups. She was a charter member of her Extension club and also a member of the Hilltop Birthday Club.
Kampfe is preceded in death by: her parents, Herman and Ella; her husband, Reuben O. Kampfe; brothers—Richard Ebmeier, Marvin (Ethel) Ebmeier and Roger Ebmeier; brothers-in-law—Roger Forsberg, Marvin (Helen) Kampfe, LaVern Kampfe and Roger Kampfe.
Survivors include: her sons—Randall R. (Patiricia) Kampfe of Decatur, IL, and Steven J. (Helen) Kampfe of Lincoln; granddaughters—Anne (Shann) Sievers of Columbia, MO, Elizabeth (Paul) Plinske of Whitewater, WI, and Caroline Kampfe of Omaha; grandsons—John Kampfe and Anthony Kampfe of Lincoln; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd Ebmeier; sister, Vida Forsberg; sisters-in-law—Shirley Ebmeier, Doris Kampfe and Joan (Curt) Wuest; brother-in-law, Raymond Kampfe.
