Dorothy Jean Rine Fales, 84 - April 12, 2013Dorothy Jean Rine Fales, 84, of York, formerly of Melbourne, AR, and Bassett, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. Just as the sun set on Friday evening for the beginning of her Lord’s Sabbath, she went to sleep in the arms of her Lord, said family members.
Fales was laid to rest at the Moulton Cemetery at Taylor.
She was born June 14, 1928, in Lewistown, MT, to Murray and Lulla (Dodd) Rine. The family included a brother, Gerald, and sisters, Mildred and Grace.
Drought, grasshoppers and lack of available schooling caused the family to move back to Nebraska in 1936. Her grandfather, John Wesley Rine, bought a farm east of Farnam for the family where they moved in, sight unseen.
Fales had attended country grade schools and later graduated from Farnam High School in 1946.
She married John Peckham in December of 1946. To this union, four daughters were born.
On Dec. 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Warren Fales at the Baptist Church in Gothenburg. Her four daughters joined in the wedding ceremony. The couple had a loving marriage that has grown over the past 55 years, according to family members. She gave her full love and support to her husband, following him in the many adventures that came their way.
?Fales was active in her church where she taught younger children and played the piano for the worship service. In Arkansas, she was actively involved with the Community Aid Distribution Center.
?She was known for her excellent housekeeping abilities, said the family, with kitchen floors always dust mopped, window shades perfect and horizontally matched, and spring cleaning meant washing all windows, window sills, mop boards and light fixtures.
Fales spent many days away from those she loved. She always told them to look up at the moon at night, know that she was looking at the same moon, and that she loved them, said family members.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Murray and Lulla Rine; all of her siblings; a grandchild.
Survivors include: her husband, Warren of 55 years; her four daughters—Carolyn (Dave) Nelson and Jacque (Tom) Shotkoski, all of Lincoln, Marilyn (Don) Hayes of Martell, and Barbara (Lennie) Devine of Grand Island; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
