Commissioners approve road plans
Gothenburg projects to be completed in spring
Twenty-one road projects over the next six years were approved after a public hearing Friday.
At a Dawson County Commissioners meeting, former roads superintendent Jon Mooberry provided information on the projects in the county’s one- and six-year plan.
Within that plan, projects in the Gothenburg area will be completed this spring.
A road northeast and southwest of town will be armor coated, Mooberry said, to extend the life of the road before concrete is needed.
Commission chair Bill Stewart, was authorized to sign the approval for all projects.
On another matter, the board awarded Miller & Associates Consulting Engineers of Kearney as the temporary roads superintendent.
The firm offered to replace Mooberry, who resigned Jan. 31, for $95 per hour while JEO Consulting Group of Wahoo and Olsson Associates of Lincoln both bid $125 per hour.
The board agreed on Miller’s fee because it was the lowest.
In other business, commissioners learned Susan Bennett resigned from her position as director of Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce and appointed Julie Harris, executive assistant of the chamber, to fulfill the remainder of Bennett’s term on the Dawson County Visitors Committee.
