All That Jazz gift shop opens

Grand opening planned this Saturday

Kylie Baker used to own a coffee shop that was part of a Julesburg, CO, gift and floral store named All That Jazz.

When she moved to Gothenburg more than a year ago, she sold the shop to the All That Jazz owner which happened to be her mother, Patty Carter.

After a local bank branch closed where she worked, Baker acted on a dream of hers.

Along with her mother, the two opened a branch of “All That Jazz” in Gothenburg last Saturday.

The store, at 525 Ninth St., carries a special line of baby clothing, toys, trinkets and accessories as well as unique home decor, jewelry, handbags, scarves, cards, holiday items and more.

“We try to bring in the newest trends on the coast,” Carter said.

Baker admits to being nervous about opening a store when she first moved to Gothenburg.

“I didn’t know what the community was like here and I didn’t know if this was something that would be embraced by the community,” she said.

In a year, however, Baker said she fell in love with Gothenburg.

“We plan on staying here,” she said. “This town is amazing.”

Baker and husband Zac, who’s a welder for SourceGas in Cozad, have three children: Tyler 16; Trystan, 13; and Conner, 11.

Carter said there’s a chance that the Gothenburg store could become the main store.

In the meantime, Carter will continue to haul merchandise to the local store from Julesburg and help her daughter when possible.

Gift items are bought at a market in Atlanta, GA.

“Our gifts are unique and you’re not going find a store like this in a larger place,” Carter said.

Kylie added that people won’t find what they offer all under one roof.

Eventually, Baker said they hope to hire a part-time employee.

The partners are renting the space from developer Terry Jessen who renovated the store according to their specifications.

A grand opening is planned this Friday and Saturday with giveaways, drawings and refreshments.

Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
