GHS celebrates homecoming this week
Gothenburg Public School students are observing spirit week to culminate in homecoming events this Friday.
As the football team gets ready to tame the Chase County Longhorns on Friday, the theme is “Beef: It’s What’s for Dinner.”On Friday, junior and senior high students in activities and organizations will decorate floats from 1 to 1:45 p.m.
Those not in activities will decorate and ride on a fan float.
Line-up for the parade downtown is at 1:45 p.m. with the parade starting at 2 p.m.
Students will then return to school and the performing arts center for the annual pep club rally where float and prize winners will be announced.
Following the game Friday night, a homecoming king and queen will be crowned on the football field.
A dance will follow in the elementary gym from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Doors will close at 10:30 p.m. Out-of-town dates must be signed up in the high school office by 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
On Monday, students observed Western Day with attire followed by America Day Tuesday.
Wednesday (today) they were asked to dress for Duck Dynasty Day followed by Color Day on Thursday when seniors wear black, juniors white, sophomores blue, freshmen red, eighth grade green and seventh grade orange.
Dudley Elementary students will wear yellow.
Students, K-12, are asked to show their school pride Friday by wearing Swede colors to school.
