Special stamp for holiday mail

Gothenburg residents got a chance to have their mail stamped with a commemorative Pony Express seal Saturday at Gothenburg Public Library. Letters were then taken to Cozad and back by horseback thanks to riders from the local Pony Express Association.

COLD RIDE: Dan Marten of Gothenburg is atop his horse Track as they head out of town on the first leg of a Pony Express Reride to Cozad to pick up specially stamped mail. Martin is treasurer of the state division of the Pony Express Association.

SECURING LETTERS: Lyle Gronewold of Gothenburg tightenes up the mochila or letter carrier after stamped letters were placed inside. The letters were brought back to Gothenburg and mailed Monday. Gronewold is president of the state division of the Pony Express Association.
