Fire department, rural board form committee
The Brady Volunteer Fire Department and the Brady Rural Fire District have formed a cooperative committee to help develop a plan for building a new fire hall in town.
The rural board met Jan. 9 and discussed plans drawn by fireman Todd Roe that had been previously published. (Jan. 2 issue)
Rural board secretary/TREASURER Ray Blede told district board members that many questions have come up from patrons, contractors and news media following the release of preliminary drawings in The Times.
To address questions and move forward on plans, the cooperative committee was formed.
Members include firemen Mike Gruber, Levi Nelson and Jeff Snyder with rural board members Joe Bourge and Troy David and district patrons Rod Rayburn and Jim Munson. Gruber and Snyder will co-chair the group.
Blede reported to the rural board that so far, grant money has not been found to help finance a new fire hall.
He said he would continue searching for assistance, welcoming any resources.
The rural district board also heard proposals for a Lincoln County interlocal ambulance agreement as well as an interlocal agreement with the city of North Platte and the North Platte Fire Department to provide advanced life support service and a new five-year cooperative agreement with the Nebraska State Forrest Service. All were accepted.
The next Brady Rural Fire District board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the fire hall.
Board members Troy David and Bill Slack are up for a three-year term re-election.
