Students learn  vocabulary: Kids asking kids questions about what words mean is helping students learn new vocabulary words at Gothenburg High School. Words are placed around the school and certain English 10 students are accountable for the week to answer questions about it, according to English teacher Roxanne Whiting who said feedback seems to be positive. “Plus, my previous students see the words around the school that they learned in English 10 and it often jogs their memory about the words,” she said. Whiting said she and speech language pathologist Carol Keiser thought of the idea to help make vocabulary words relate to the students’ world.
