Students produce videos

Brady students are coming soon to a video near you.
With cameras and editing software purchased with a John Russell Applegate Foundation grant, Project Digi Eagles is enhancing high level learning through digital movie making.
Advanced computer students initiated Project Digi Eagles last month, under the direction of business and computer instructor Robbi McKenney.
Four video cameras and Adobe Premiere software allow students to capture images and make movies with special effects.
Students will use the equipment and skills learned to produce projects such as digital storytelling, interviews and presentations, McKenney said.
Once the initial group is trained in this technology, the projects can be altered to fit the requirements of other classes, McKenney said.
“These skills can be utilized as a technology integration piece for a number of class projects such as oral presentation pieces, book reports, research findings, persuasive commercials and more,” McKenney said.
Seniors Shaunna Scarrow and Megan Pfeifer completed the first project using the new equipment.
Scarrow and Pfeifer used different mediums (video cameras, animoto.com and xtranormal.com) to create a video to show youth the dangers of predators on the Internet and to teach them how to protect themselves online.
“The students enjoyed having access to the equipment and being able to use media to translate their ideas into state-of-the-art productions,” McKenney said. “Technology helps students become more engaged in learning. Brady school has a great group of teachers who are working hard to increase the amount of technology integrated into their classrooms.”
